Most cats love to be petted. Some like to be brushed.  Shadow gets brushed 2 x a day.  It is comforing for her along with some treats before I give her the insulin shots twice a day.  I Use the love brush becuse of my disability but if you click on it then you will go to the page where there are many choices.  Self cleaning is proba Most cats love to be petted.
